The Nuclear Medicine Center at Angeles University Foundation Medical Center is the brainchild of the driven and assiduous Dr. Eric Cruz, whose dream is to promote Nuclear Medicine and make its services accessible to many Filipinos. It is the first of many centers he established in the north of Manila. His choice of hospital is only fitting as Angeles University Foundation Medical Center is a non-stock, non-profit, world-class healthcare facility located in Angeles City and is the only university-based, private, tertiary level teaching, training and research hospital in Central Luzon.
The Nuclear Medicine Center at Angeles University Foundation Medical Center, then located in a small nook in the hospital, started operation in February 2009 with only the Wallac Wizard II 2470 Automatic Gamma Counter as equipment. It gradually expanded to offer urea breath test, radioactive iodine therapy, as well as more radioimmunoassay tests. In August 2011, the hospital procured the GE Infinia Hawkeye Gamma Camera with 4-Slice CT and hence, inauguration of the Milagros O. How Nuclear Medicine Center took place. On November 27, 2011, the Philippine Daily Inquirer published an article on this accomplishment of Angeles University Foundation Medical Center: being the first in the country to acquire the latest in state-of-the-art imaging at that time.
Currently, the Nuclear Medicine Center at Angeles University Foundation Medical Center is ably staffed by Drs. Eric Cruz, Francis Gerard Estrada, Patricia Bautista, Joel Mendoza, Dr. Emeline Gail Caverte and Dr. Eric Ray Linchangco all graduates of the most comprehensive Nuclear Medicine residency training program in the country, and technologists namely Maica Leonen, Louinne Amii Tayag, Maria Carmina Galban, Lemuel Gabuyo, Kristine Anne Marie Carlos and Mary Grace Gonzales. With unwavering and strong support from the hospital administration led by Atty. Martin Angeles, the Nuclear Medicine Center at Angeles University Foundation Medical Center is poised to be the frontrunner not only in Central Luzon but also in Northern Luzon. With exciting developments to come, Angeles University Foundation Medical Center may soon achieve its vision to be among Asia’s finest healthcare institutions.
